Last night in Cheptebo - 24th Nov

Our last evening in Cheptebo was a nice experience.

Once again we had been invited by Joseph and sally to their house for dinner. All week Sally had been catering for a house full of visitors from the UK, tonight was no exception with Bill, Rosemary, David, Alice, Roderick, John, Mary and I. Tonight was different in that a number of us were leaving early in the morning.

Tonight we each gave a short speech about our experiences during the past week. Then Daisy, Joseph and Sally's young daughter came centre stage and recited two poems she had written, the first about Parents looking after their children properly (or not as the case may be), the second about Protection and Security of young children from exploitation. Very telling words from some one so young. Perhaps children have to grow up faster here in Kenya as they do not have the cossetted lifestyle that most have in the UK.

There was a short exchange of small presents/mementos before the evening broke up.

We hurried back to our rooms in the jet black night and with the rain pounding down on us, to finish packing and to get an early'ish night.
